The Winter that Will NOT Quit

Seriously, this Kansas winter won't stop.
No we haven't had any snow as of late {ie last 3 weeks--for reference it is MARCH!}, but the cold won't go. Honestly that seasonal depressive disorder thing is totally legit. I am feeling it even with happy pills in tow. I never want to leave the house unless I absolutely am forced to. Thank goodness for my Y coaching job or I probably wouldn't have gotten out a third as much as I did.

Don't get me wrong the snow is "Cute" and all during the appropriate winter months--December and January, I'll even throw in the first few weeks of February, but come March---oh hell no. Momma is ready for some warmer temps. Temps that allow me to take the kids OUTSIDE--to the park, the zoo and the exciting driveway.

And so in "honor" of the never-ending winter I decided it is still appropriate to post all our winter fun pictures from several of our snow falls. I think after the 3rd one the luster wore off for all and we just hunkered down.

This in particular is one of those natural consequence "punishments" I once spoke of...I told him repeatedly taking off his gloves would freeze his hands...didn't want to believe me--totally independent like that and well...
TEARS!

Thatch's first snow.

LOVE this photo!!

And here is hoping Mother Nature is done hating on the Midwest and will take some of her own happy pills and bring the spring!!!

The New P365 2014

Project 365 time.
Last YEAR I talked about how this is a project I love to hate.
It is a LOT of work and organizing...or maybe that is just me. I tend to over organize and analyze. I had an entire note pad full of dates, picture information, events etc to keep me on track when I would finally sit down to do it. Not to mention NEVER organizing my photos because I didn't want to forget something and creating additional photo folders just for P365. Yes, I am sure I made this too hard.
The POINT of this project is to just capture our lives. Plain {emphasis on PLAIN} and simple {probably should emphasize simple too!}. I knew there had to be a better way. Insert BlinkBuggy app/website.

I at first stumbled on it from a blog that was talking about ways to keep all your kids' fantastic artwork that we dare not part with and yet still part with it. ;) So the more I looked at this app the more I realized this is the perfect--plain and simple--P365 app.

Now that I am part of the cool club and have instagram and an iPod to catch all those daily photos, I just simply upload them to Blinkbuggy--add info, dates, tags etc and call it a day. You can record cute quotes from your kids--hello my "kids say the darnedest things" series, milestones and just moments you want to remember.

Now maybe you are thinking that's neat...how is this helping. Blinkbuggy is partnered with MILK books and therefore you can upload your blinkbuggy account straight to this photobook site. Now being the avid digi scrapbooker I am-- I am not really a fan of photo books, but remember we are going for plain and simple; and really for this project that is all I am looking for. I loved last year's pages, but I just don't have time for that AND all the "routine" pages I like to do throughout the year.

So here is just a quick screen shot of my book. So far I am happy with how "easy" this is. It took some playing around to figure it out, but now I am on a roll and I now have week 1-13 done in a matter of an hour vs days!

I know there are a lot of moms out there they may also find this useful and maybe you never take the time to actually create a book, but I do think it is a neat way to capture the memories for the year. Plain and Simple.

Sunday Song {Keep Making Me}

This song is most definitely my heart song this week, month, year.

I am in a season of idleness. I feel like I am just waiting for something. I am not being active and I can feel God nudging me to draw closer to Him. That is the beautiful thing about our God He never pushes, just nudges. I don't feel like drawing closer to Him because it is the "christian" thing to do or that I feel guilty that I am lackluster in this area; more like a long lost friend sending me text or note saying "hey, remember me?! I would like to hang out with you again."

So "'Til you are my ONE desire, 'Til you are my ONE TRUE Love, 'Til you are my breath, My everything, Lord, please keep making me..." Amen.

"Keep Making Me"
Sidewalk Prophets.
Make me broken
So I can be healed
‘Cause I’m so calloused
And now I can’t feel
I want to run to You
With heart wide open
Make me broken

Make empty
So I can be filled
‘Cause I’m still holding
Onto my will
And I’m completed
When you are with me
Make me empty

[Chorus:]
‘Til You are my one desire
‘Til You are my one true love
‘Til You are my breath, my everything
Lord, please keep making me

Make me lonely
So I can be Yours
‘Til I want no one
More than You, Lord
‘Cause in the darkness
I know You will hold me
Make me lonely

[Chorus]

Kids Say the Darndest Things

Time for another hilarious {mostly to me and Chad} edition of Things my Kids Say.

Both the kids say "come at me bro" when "fighting." Courtesy of my sister Meg.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
M: We are out of peanut butter.
Lo: Well, we can make some. I read how in a book. {probably some history lesson on George Washington Carver}
M: Problem is sass is we don't have peanuts.
Lo: Mom, just go outside and get some from the tree.
M: Well you just think of everything don't you.
Lo: yes.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I was rough housing MW after a few minutes he says "mom stop. You need to be nice to me. You are hurting my feelings."

2 seconds later.

MW: "Oh moooommmy---come and get me..."
BOYS!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Before there was Frozen there was Pippi.
Once upon a time the kids were into Pippi Longstockings. {one of the best movies from my childhood}. The song goes a little something like this:
MW loves to sing and sing loudly when he first wakes up in the morning.
One morning we hear him singing "Pippi Yongstockings is com-ING to your TOWN!!!" Over and over.
Now he sings "Let it Go" Starting at "be the good girl you always have to be--conceal, don't feel." Over and over. He may be more into Frozen than Sass, just sayin.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I can't remember where Lo got this but this may be her best come back yet.
Whenever anyone says something isn't fair she quickly responds with "The Fair comes in September!" BAHAHAHA!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MW: "can I play the iPad?"
Daddy: No. AND don't ask your mother. End of story.
MW: "NO! Not a great story." Crosses arms and pouts.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One morning ALL of us {including our 2 dogs} were sleeping in our Queen size bed.  Chad and I started saying that we would each just go take one of their beds so we could get some sleep.
Lo: NO! We need to sleep together as a family and sing campfire songs.

Me: where do you get this stuff kid?!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MW is all about wiping lately, which you know is a good thing...but I just need to be sure we are clean. :)
MW: MOM! I did wipe. It's {his bottom} good as new!" Cracks me up every time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Snow Day Feb 4th
We kept putting off going out into the snow.
Finally Lo shouts "That's it! Put your iPads, phones, and pods down. It is TIME to go play in the snow NOW!!!"

demanding much...now you know why she is nicknamed Sass.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lo is all about playing baby dolls. She is quite the mommy. She puffs up big and proud whenever she has a mommy moment (pushing her baby in a shopping cart, using a mobi wrap etc.) and exclaims "I feel like a own mommy!"
However, she tends to pack a lot of stuff--I mean she IS a first time mom. HA!
M: Why on Earth do you need all of this stuff? {ie a bumbo, stroller, high-chair, blankets, diaper bag and so on...}
Lo: Well mom, babies eat, sit in bumbos and then sleep that is why!
M: Well I stand corrected.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Micah: Oh yuck! Dogger Slob. {Instead of dog slobber. SO FUNNY!}
He secretly loves Thatchy Beau Jangy's kisses. Don't let him fool you.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This last one isn't as much funny as endearing.
We had these little tables just being stowed away in our bedroom.
One Sunday morning as we were getting around MW just went and sat on one and said "Come buy me mom!"
I don't know where he got this idea, but he just wanted to know that out of all the little boys in the world I would still choose him.
So I indulged him and pretending to look high and low for just the perfect little boy. I would ask an invisible sales clerk if they had one with red hair and a sly grin. Then we would lock eyes and exclaim 'THERE! There is the perfect little boy! I want this one!! How much?!"
Oh how he would just giggle with glee. This game went on nearly every day, 50x a day.
Of course once a little Lo Lo Sass caught wind of the game she too promptly plopped down on that table hoping we would choose her!
Sweet kids.
I will always choose you!
Long Time No Post.
It has been nearly a month since my last post.
I have been doing this for 5 years and I always wondered when it may end.
Today isn't exactly the day.
However, Instagram is starting to take over. {I finally joined the cool club.}
Many blogs I follow aren't posting as much either and would go on and on about how they are capturing the every day via Instagram. I use to think, that is not really the same; however, in a lot of ways it is--a quick snippet or two of my day. I am hooked.
So if my life interests you, you will find me there most days. Follow HERE.
But there is plenty I still want to say and share that can't be captured in a few short sentences and hashtags.
One big change in my life is my new gymnastic coaching job. Starting at the beginning of this year I started coaching some level 2 gymnast. This job while it may not seem like a dream job to most or lucrative, but to me it is all I have ever wanted to do. I can't remember the last time I poured myself into a job...I am so excited to go to work. Plus, I still get to be a SAHM mom the majority of the day and Lo is becoming quite the gymnast. Win win WIN!
 One of the mom's in my pre-K class has a newborn that she brings in the car carrier and now Lo wants to be just like her. So baby Juju goes with us everywhere. And even gets in a bit of gymnastics.
 HANDSTAND!!!
 MW getting in on the action!!
 Doesn't completely show it but she is getting ready to do her chin-up pull-over. Pre-team is just months away! {Mommy may be more excited than she is! I promise though, I am not pushing!!}
Of course my new job isn't without it's hazards. This is the SECOND sprained ankle I have had in 2 months. Grace is NOT my middle name. I wish I could tell you a really great story on how I got it, but alas I am just a klutz with a weak left ankle. This one is the worse yet. While I can now walk on it, it is very tender and needs constant support. Blah. When will I learn to judge mat distance?!?!
Hopefully more posts to follow! Let's see if I can beat last month's entry record of 6?!?!?
