My kids have been sleeping through the night forever, well Leighton forever, MW since he was about 10 months. Anyway, without fail anytime I am scheduled to work one of them if not both decides to get up in the middle of the night, thus requiring love and snuggling to ease their fears. Resulting in mommy getting no sleep. Most of the time this annoys me, momma likes her sleep. Last night I was struggling with sleep anyway, just as I felt like I had hit a REM cycle I hear this shrill scream/cry. I immediately jump out of bed, Chad is still very much snoozing away, men; and rush to Lo's room thinking it was her. She is dead asleep. Weird. Then I hear it again, so obviously it was Micah. I go into him, help him find his paci and stroke his face and head hoping to lull him back to sleep. No dice.
Now normally I would just make him cry it out because that is just how my kids roll, they hate being rocked. However, for some reason I decided he just needed me to rock him. I settle in and start rocking and stroking his head. A few minutes in I hear Lo stirring and crying out. Great. Now both of them are up. Umm...Chad hello are you coherent?! No. Great.
Lo calls out momma? I am in here baby. That sweet girl just walked in and climbed up into the rocking chair with me and Micah. Micah was so happy to see her and they both just hugged and snuggled each other while I rocked and cuddled them. For the first time in eons, they both just laid still and let me hold and rock them. Together. I could have stayed there all night. One of the best 2AM moments I have had in awhile. Karios moment for sure, I didn't even mind after I finally got everyone back to bed that Lo sneaked back into our room to sleep with us, albeit sideways. I sort of can't wait until Micah does that someday. Late night snuggles are the best.

Kite Flyin'
Well it's Spring. Summer. technically it's Spring, but temps in the 90s suggest otherwise. I don't want to be griping about the heat in March/April, but seriously I am scared for June, because I am already griping about it. I am just a tad heat intolerant and it makes me beyond cranky, probably why God never allowed me to be a beached whale pregnant lady in the summer. Ok well this is not about the heat and how my daughter wants to move outside already, it's about kites!
Lo wanted a kite, mommy said later, daddy said "let's go to Target." Sowe they went to Target and came home with two kites. One for her {cars} and one for her BFF {angry birds}. Still not into that game...anyway, I have never really flown a kite, so you should have seen me out there trying to make my daughter smile with the kite daddy bought and wasn't home to fly yet. I felt foolish.
Then we headed out to the big field around our house {praise Jesus daddy was home!} where she and her BFF flew their kites. I was pretty impressed that 3 years old could do it, but they did. It was the best day. And when you live in KS, everyday is kite flying day. :)
It's hard work flying a kite.
Now for the baby swimming pool...

Happy Things
These are the things that are making me smile today. Because there have already been plenty of irritating things that have made me pretty grumpy this morning and it wasn't my kids.
{ps I didn't take the time to edit the photos, most of the time I don't for my blog; AND like a goof ball I forgot to turn the flash back on. :( so they are what they are. :) }
Love Bear
Playing with her dollhouse. I just love it!! Currently she is "cleaning" it because that is what I have been doing all day. Cleaning. :( {also not what made me grumpy...actually that was my therapy.}
Micah loves him some blankie. Getting tired. So sweet.
Wait! Nap time?! No way. I am not tired. Just teasing. ;)
And mommy loves me some Micah bear smiles.
The end. Happy Wednesday.

Kairos Moment
The other day I blogged about Kairos moments. It is based on THIS post. Kairos time is God's time, time outside of time if you will. Those moments when your day stops and you really see your kids, your spouse, your world for what it really is. The moments that you want to freeze frame forever. That is Kairos time.
My day to day is boring, mundane and sometimes hard, who's isn't? But I want to try and occasionally capture those Kairos moments here.
"Mommy you are so beautiful and cute."
Then she leaned over to daddy and whispered: "I love you so much daddy."
Perfect start to the day. I just wanted to lay there and snuggle her all day. Kairos moment.

Sunday morning Lo came barreling into our room bright and early at 630a, as usual. I scooped her and her 19 babies into bed and snuggled down with her hoping to catch just a few more peaceful moments; instead Leighton grabbed my face and whispered:"Mommy, you are kind, you are smart and you are important to me. I love you soooo much."
{since discovering this quote from the movie The Help, we like to say it to Lo, no child can be told that enough and evidently I need to hear it too. :) }
As if that weren't enough, a little later she added :"Mommy you are so beautiful and cute."
Then she leaned over to daddy and whispered: "I love you so much daddy."

The other day when I was perusing my digital scrapbooking sites, I found this page that I can't wait to "scraplift" and make my own. What a perfect way to capture some of those Kairos moments, with the post as the backdrop. Love.
What are your Kairos moments? I would love to hear them. I think this would make a great series.
