Small Group Baby Shower

Tonight we were surprised big time by our small group. Every few weeks we all go out on a group date night, tonight the plan was to go to Abeulos, which I was very excited about. Anyway, we walk in and start scanning the restaurant for our group. Right in front of me I see these big "It's a Girl" balloons and think "oh how sweet someone is having a baby shower." Then I look closer and realize I am that someone having a baby shower! HA! So slow. Chad and I were both definitely surprised!!

It was fun to have a quaint little shower complete with a cake and lots of great clothes, diapers and baby things.
Sadly, because I didn't know about it I didn't have my camera to take any pictures. :( The only copies I got are in your scrapbook.

I just can't get over all the love people keep showing us. And to think we still have our BIG family shower yet! I love getting all these baby things. They are just so much fun. Can't wait for you to get here now and try it all out.

Hodge Podge

As of late most of these entries are just a hodge podge of my life. I said I would journal more and I am regardless of what I have to say. So many things are going on right now.

1. In about 6.5 days I take my RD exam! AHHHH!! No, I am ready to take it. I am still studying and trying to keep it all inside my head and I think I am doing well. Pass or Fail I am ready to get it behind me! I am trying to stay positive about it and remain calm and composed so that I can think through each question!

2. I am 36 weeks prego! Yea!!! I go in on Monday to see if there is any progress...here is hoping! I am so uncomfortable and I am just ready to hold my little angel in my arms! Of course, she can't debut until AFTER the RD exam and I would like to go to my own shower, but that is definitly negotiable! My friend and I are 2 weeks apart she is 1cm dialated and 50% effaced...not sure exactly how good that is or isn't but it IS progress and we will take it. I really want us to have our babies on the same day. I just think that would be neat! So again here's hoping!

School Shower

So we had our school baby shower yesterday! It was great! We (Leighton) made out like bandits...I wasn't expecting such generosity from the school. I mean I thought they would get cheaper things like clothes or blankets even diapers. But we got that and more! We got two "high chair" table chairs, a bouncy seat, and TONS of bath accessories! It was amazing...I can't wait for the other showers, baby things are so much fun! I was just so appreciative that they did that for us/Chad...it was far more than expected and asked for and made us feel special!

One teacher made Chad this Daddy In Charge Apron. It is a riot. Complete with goggles and tongs for those extra special diapers he will be changing this summer. HA!

I am bummed I didn't get a picture of the cake and food table, but it was awesome.  It was a great shower and just humbling to be cared for like that by a community of people. They were all so sweet. Plus, it was fun that Chad got to be apart of at least one shower. ;)

And the countdown begins!

I am 35 weeks pregnant!!! I never thought this week would get here (or really the end for that matter) I know I still have a few more weeks to go but it is WEEKS not months! Not too much is happening. Except you are moving around like a fool! I am starting to notice more specific sleep and wake patterns. It is all so amazing to think in 35 weeks you have grown and developed from a microscopic cell to this marvelous unique person! Mind blowing, I don't know how people could deny God...there is no other explanation! You are truly a miracle. I am just so excited to meet you and hold you. I know I am starting to drop a little which I think is a good sign that you are making progress towards entering the world! I love you and can't wait to meet you! Love Mommy!

Eighth Month Pregnancy Reflection

My pregnancy classes are:
Hospital Tour (11/8)
Childbirth Preparation (12/13)

In the classes, I've learned how to:
Relax and breathe through the contractions. Different positions to go through labor in.

What I've bought for you so far:
I haven't bought much except the crib and all the room decor. I have bought just a couple outfits...it is hard buying for someone you can't see or touch yet!

What other people have bought for you:
Mostly clothes, but I am getting ready to have a couple of showers in the upcoming weeks! Hopefully I will get all the stuff I "need" I know there is a bunch of stuff that makes life easier, but I am ok w/ just the necessities right now! My mom-in-law is thankfully buying the stroller/car seat combo...can't leave the hospital w/o it!!!! :)

The strangest food craving I've had during this pregnancy is:
Blueberry pancakes. I know that is "normal" but I want them all the time now!

The strangest piece of advice I've gotten since this pregnancy started is:
Honestly I haven't received any advice that I can recall that is "strange."

At my prenatal visit, I learned:
That my sweet peas heart rate is still on the upper end...170s! Maybe it is the coffee I drink?!?!? Evidently it is suppose to be trending down at this point!

My hopes:
That she will come around 38 weeks! I just want to meet her! I also hope she has lots of hair, I know crazy but I want to be able to put bows and headbands on her and not have to tape them on! :) Overall, as always I hope she is perfectly healthy "normal" baby girl!

My fears:
I am already having braxton hicks contractions and not sure how those starting this early will keep you in there until you are ready to join the world...healthy and of Gestational Age!
