1. You MUST go and check out this song "Sad Soundtrack". I have known this young woman since about 5 minutes after she was born. She has been singing since she figured out how to talk. I am so beyond amazed at her talent. I also hear she is about to record 3 more of her songs! All I have to say is look out Taylor {Swift, that is}. I just hope she remembers me when she makes it big...I am only looking for good concert tickets and backstage passes AND the chance to meet Reba, nothing we couldn't work out. :) So please check it out social networking is so important. If you like it let her know.
courtesy of her myspace page.

2. We watched Captain Ron this weekend. I just love that movie. I probably watched it 100x as a kid and since the hubs hadn't ever seen it (you wouldn't believe all the "old" movies he has missed out on) I made him watch it...and he liked it. Basically, I just think it would be so amazing to get on a boat and just sail. My heart belongs to the ocean.

3. School is starting soon! Weird to think in just 3ish short years I will be sending Lo with Chad to school! I think I might tear up right now thinking about it. It will be here before I know it.

4. I am wanting to switch up our breakfast rut. We eat Cheerios every.single.day. While they are delightful they are expensive. Thankfully, over the last year I have been able to snag them for $1-$2/box {thanks to good store deals paired with coupons} and having no shame in purchasing 10-15 boxes at a time, like Saturday when I only went in for milk...sigh. BUT I need some good freezer and quick meals for us in the morning I am far too hungry to wait around on pancakes and eggs...so I am going to venture out and make some oatmeal packets, egg breakfast sandwiches, and granola bars, and maybe some smoothie kits...we shall see. I really need to get our grocery budget down again.

5. And last but certainly not least, my littlest sister is going off to KU next Sunday. tear. She is all "grown up" now. I think my parents are going to need to be admitted somewhere after next week. She is their last and they are now officially "empty nesters." That or they may be hanging out with me more, since I am all they have left close! HA!

Well that wraps up a particularly boring miscellany Monday, but hey these are the random things that keep me up at night! :)

Leighton's 2nd Year Scrapbook pt.3

For your enjoyment, or mine ;) Here is the latest installment of Lo's 2nd year scrapbook. I really find this addicting and love it more than I ever thought I would. They got a bit out of order because that is how I roll, you have to go with the creative juices that strike. :) I am really amazed at how much she has changed in just the last 6 months!

To see or remember part one click HERE and/or part two click HERE.
Also if you would like to read the journaling, please click on the picture to enlarge it...in case you already didn't know that. :)

Note: That my good friend Ginger took these beautiful ONE year photos.
These first two pages actually conclude her ONE year album, but I had to include them. :)
This is suppose to be a side by side two page layout...not sure why I just said that. :)

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. I am SO ready for fall. Fall colors, fall temperatures, fall activities! I am also super anxious for our State Fair. Something about viewing it through the eyes of my daughter makes it so much more appealing. Bring on fall!

2. I have been tired of my old blog look, so I opted for something new...not sure I like it yet though?! But I do want to give credit where credit is due. The pics of Chad and I, and of our family were taken by a colleague of Chad's breakin' into the photography business. His studio is called Raw Emotion and you can check him out HERE and of course that precious picture of Leighton was taken by my good friend Ginger, which I think you all know by now! HA! But I just don't want to take credit for something that isn't mine. :)

3. People, I am no good at this gardening thing. Now granted my garden has already superseded my expectations. (ie it is still "alive") but it just isn't "producing" very much and I am bummed. My zucchini plants had to be ripped out last month, because they made me mad. Every time a little zuc would appear two days later it would be completely rotten and it refused to get bigger than my pinky. Grrr. So it had to go. Now my pepper plants are producing one single pepper. My tomato plants have grown several tomatoes but they won't ripen!! I think they don't have good sunlight. Next year I will move my garden to a better locale and see if that helps. But it doesn't ease my disappointment. I am practically salivating over home grown tomatoes! Such is life.

This is my "harvest" ::insert sad face:: I have one more mater ripen and it looks like that may be "it."

4. God has been super good to us as of late. Or should I say especially good to us, since He always is good?! Anyway, a week ago we were having some car problems. They kind we thought the previous $500 bill took care of! It was frustrating. Thankful Honda took good care of us! They completely fixed the problem for FREE, AND we got to have a "free" Honda Odyssey mini van for a week. I just love when God is in the details! Plus, I wouldn't have completely minded if we got to keep the Odyssey. Never in my life did I think I would want a swagger wagon! :) HA! HA! HA! But it is good to have my Pilot home!

5. Now I have been super grateful that Chad has been home all summer. I like the company and help, but I am ready for him to go back. Don't get me wrong I will miss him, but I. want. my. routine. back! Having him home throws everything off. I don't know why it just does. I am ready to get back into the swing of things.

This was Chad's back to school pic last year!

6. I have a secret I am dying to share with someone, but I can't...yet! So until then, you will all have to live in suspense. But I would love to hear your guesses if you are up for that fun little game. :) I promise that it shouldn't be too much longer before I can share it.

Thanks for stopping by my weekly randomness! See ya next week!
