Changes

A new year equals time for changes. However, my new year usually comes in August, not January. Something about the start of school signals a fresh start and new beginning to me more-so than January. {And I am actually doing really well at the aforementioned goals from August!!} However, after Christmas I can't help but feel the need to purge and organize. It truly is my favorite time of the year.

Five minutes after Christmas was over my house was back to normal. Although it looked so sad...I think I need to do some more decorating. :) Or more reasons to waste time on pinterest...

We are in toy overload, which is normal for this season of our life, but still I can't stand clutter. We do have a toy room, but it was quickly filling up. We had a twin bed in there for any extra guests we have have. But wait? No one ever stays with us. Hmmm. Chad and I figured it was time Lo got an upgrade in beds. I always wanted her in a twin from the get go, but when the kids were supposedly going to be sharing a room that wasn't feasible. So Lo is on room makeover #2 in the short 6 months we have lived here and poor Micah's room still is unfinished. :/
It looks like a 13 year old lives there now and NOT a 3 year old, but I just can't do that baby stuff. I need a room that will last her until 13 or I get sick of it, which ever comes first. HA!
I do still have some tweaking to do based on this inspirational room:

I really wanted to add that silhouette mostly...I am really into those all of a sudden.

Back to the playroom. While I would love something really pretty and ultra organized I realize that is unrealistic. People who design those rooms clearly have no children who are allowed to play in there. :)

So here is the before: {for dramatic effect I left the toys out. ;) }

And now After: Again I have some tweaking to do and some fun signs to hang, but you get the idea. I moved all the toys into the closet to "hide" them, since all they ever do is dig them out and bring them into the family room...why even bother with a "play room."

Finally our master bedroom is getting a little face lift.
{Before}

It has taken me nearly a year to find the perfect comforter. I am in love. However, it was short lived as not but a few mere hours later my dumb dog Toby used it as his personal fire hydrant. Grrrr. So now it is gone being cleaned. Anyone want a dog?!
{In Progress...}

Again some tweaking like new curtains and pillows, but for now I am just over the moon to have a lovely comforter!!

Overall my "resolutions" for this year is to organize, purge {hello garage sale in the spring}, and de-clutter. I want to go through every drawer and closet. And keep up with purging of baby junk. I also want to finish Micah's room and maybe take on decorating a few more spaces around here, since I haven't done much of that since we moved in! Seems like a lot but doing a space every week or so is fairly obtainable.

Sentimental

This week is Micah Bear's birthday week! Can you believe it?! My Micah Bear is going to be ONE on Monday the 16th! One peeps, one! I have been waiting for this day since he was about two weeks old. I am so ready to slam the door on this chapter. Just kidding. Well sort of. It is not lost on me to cherish those little baby moments, but it isn't really a phase I particular enjoy. Tonight as I was scrapping the bottom of the last formula container we will ever buy {for ourselves}, I realized how I am ready for this new chapter. No more babies and growing up with our little complete family.

{Micah very excited about his new big boy car seat!}

So bring on the toddler years, those I love! Of course knowing Micah, I will probably spend the next 17 years on my knees praying for patience and a level head anyway. HA! God really knows how to humble someone when they think they have this parenting thing down. HA!

Back to being sentimental.

I just keep thinking about "this time last year..." This time last year (Jan 10th) we were in a snow storm and I was contracting hard core (again), but this time thinking it was for real...of course it subsided by nightfall. Then on Jan 11th Chad was home due to negative 15 wind chill! Today the high was 54*. I just find that crazy!

{toddling! He is a walking pro now!!}

I also keep looking at my baby boy toddling all over the house like he is hot stuff and thinking "this time last year" you weren't here yet!! I couldn't even imagine that you would be toddling all over the house in a years time. How did we get here?! Looking back it seems as if it were a million years ago you were two weeks old. Where is that little itty bitty bundle that slept in the swing for the first month?!

{love bug}

Oh and did I mentioned I nearly broke down in tears on my way home from work this week as I drove past our old house. The house we brought him home too?!

I can't wait to see what the next year brings. I love having a boy and a girl to raise. It may not be the easiest road, but I am still happy to be on it!

Happy Almost Birthday Micah Bear!!! We love you!

December Jewels

As I was organizing our pics for the month of December which total somewhere near 700+ I found these jewels.

1. Chad's 31st Birthday. I never even posted on it. Mostly because we were sick and his birthday got cancelled. :( However just a day before the great flu of 2011 hit we gave him his present. Doesn't he look hot? I know you are all jealous.

Happy Birthday Hot Stuff!

2. We finally got a snow. It ranked just above a dusting but not quite worth your time, unless you are 2. She has been waiting all year for this and I do hope for my sake we get a bigger snow sometime in the near future...

So happy!
3. As you can see this hat has made its rounds. I think it is great, everyone looks cool wearing it!
4. Lo and her wild imagination. Here she is a tiger.
Toddlers and Tiaras here we come! I see Grand Supreme in her near future. ;)
I am seeing a theme here...maybe I need to turn up the heat?! What's up Home Skillet?

* Jumpy Squirrel. This dude freaked me out. Here I am telling my life story to Chad and out of the corner of my eye I see this huge beast climbing up our deck. Then I realized it was just Jumpy. He came to ask us to kindly make him a new feeder...it is getting cold and he is hungry!

So we did and he was happy!

The end.
