Izzy {Part Deux.}

So let's see we are 4 days from Christmas what has our little elf, Izzy, been up too.

You may remember I got creative, or over-achieving as some blogs are stating, and made a calendar. Let me just say this. This isn't over-achieving. 1. I hate when 10p rolls around and my husband and I stare at each other like "what heck are we going to do tonight with that elf?!" or worse yet 2. I just about drift off, and I can't tell you how hard it is for a tightly wound momma to drift off and BAM!!! IZZY! {like the mom on Home Alone} So this keeps us on our game and took all the thinking out. Actually you may notice we didn't always follow the calendar and/or it got out of order, that's cool it shows we aren't always OCD. :)

{Day 6}
Socks on the Mantle.

{Day 7}
Elf Donuts-aka frosting covered cheerios.

They were a hit!!
{Day 8} Breakfast of Elves.
Syrup and Marshmallows.

{Day 9} Hangin' in the fridge...mommy forgot--daddy to a quick rescue. See having a calendar doesn't guarantee success.

{Day 10} Progress report. Both made the Nice list!!!

{Day 11} Snow ball fight! He made a huge snowball {cottonball} mess in each kids' room.
In the morning MW woke up and yelled "MOMMY!! mommy!!" in a scared/mixed up voice. When we went in, not really thinking about the mess; he says with wide eyes and serious voice "I did NOT make this mess mom. I didn't do it." Bless his heart.
{Day 12} Instead of Izzy leaving a dollar to rent a Prime show, he started up the free Netflix trial. Wasn't that uber kind of him! ;) We love the new shows!! Thanks Izzy! :)

 {Day 13} TP the tree with 14 days 'til Christmas!!

{Day 14}--Snowman donuts for breakfast! And he picked up their rooms while they slept!
This was a big deal and Lo noticed IMMEDIATELY upon waking that her room was CLEAN!
We ran out of time to pick up our rooms before bed and I told Lo before we went to our Saturday fun her room would have to be clean!! She was so grateful Izzy helped her! She kept telling him THANK YOU!!!
Lo gets up gingerly eats and nibbles at her donuts.
MW gets up sees donuts, barely even acknowledges Izzy, the snowmen and just inhales them 1 right after the other! Not even sure he tasted them. HA!

{Day 15} Izzy has a party watching the New Veggie Tale Christmas movie with the toys.

{Day 16} Izzy left a note to check the mirror. He made a Rudolph face for them to pose with.

{Day 17}-Celebrating Daddy's {aka Mr. Chad's 33 birthday!}

{Day 18} Lego creation. And a note to have mom check her email.
Have you ever seen that PNP North Pole videos that you can create for your kids?! We do that ever year and the kids LOVE getting a video email message from Santa!

{Day 19} I will not feed "Rudy" marshmallows. 5x.
So Izzy has stayed busy. The kids have been super good. But they always are, I only use Izzy to threaten toys being taken away, not to be good! HA! ie "If you don't keep your playroom picked up Izzy will think  you don't want those toys and take them to Santa to give to other kids!" Works every.single.time.

A Day in the Life & Forgotten Moments

In the midst of Christmas moments and traditions, I have been wanting to write out our day in the life, since I know how much people love to compare their day to day to mine. Seriously, I think it is fun to see how other moms spend their day, let's just consider it sort of an evaluation of our jobs. :)

Plus as my Family Journal project 365 is now 10 weeks behind and the New Year is looming...I will need my quips to refer back on if I can ever get caught back up.

Here's how this works--random photos smattered throughout the telling of my day week.

I have said this before, but I don't get out of bed before Leighton comes bounding in or smacks me in the face to wake me up in the morning. As most mornings you will find her in our bed. It is so common we come to expect it. I don't even realize anymore she is sleeping with us until well into the wee hours of the morning. Unless she is restless and punches me in the face or kicks me in the tummy.
Let's just grade this as a B- for parenting.
I mean letting your kid sleep in your bed nightly isn't exactly encouraged. However, Chad and I feel like she is only this little ::ahem almost 5!!:: once, so what will it hurt. One day she won't be caught dead with us.

First eye exam. Passed with flying colors.

Most mornings I have to be to the Y to teach pre-K gymnastics by 845a. When you don't get yourself and your kids out of bed before 745a it makes for a hetic morning of frantically dressing and eating cheerios and of course we have to get a Care Bears episode in.
Probably going to get a C+ on this one.

By the time we get home it is nearly lunch time. My MW is an introvert, just learning this about him.
Another C+ in mommy/child assessment.
So he is D-O-N-E when we get home. He is wiped out and cranky. He always goes straight to his room, grabs his "moon" paci, blankers and snuggles up while I get lunch around and breakfast dishes picked up.
I really should get a C- for the morning for not picking up breakfast dishes before I left! Shhh. don't tell my mom, she would die!

Here is where the day looks up! We eat lunch, play, and get ready for naps around 1/130p.
A+ for mommy. I mean what mom screws up nap time. Oh the one who lets her introvert hang out in his room and forgets to check on him and finds him dead asleep some days--that's who.

My darling daughter has decided that napping is not for her. I made the decision she could stay up vs. fighting her on napping each day.
A for not fighting with a 4.5 year old.
C+ for not having both kids nap.
Putting on lip gloss
All pretty beautiful.

At first I thought I would hate having her up, but like anything when your kids nap schedules evolve and change you get use to it. I actually enjoy her company. She does have to give me 20 minutes of quiet time before "bugging" me. And if I want to nap I do and she has to go play on her own. Usually she gets bored and tired and climbs up on the couch next to me and falls fast asleep. OR if I want to watch a mommy show she has to go play in the play room. This all has really worked out nicely. Now we both like to watch the Duggars. Win- win.
A+ for successful nap time!

I hate Lo's stringy hair. So I tried my hand at French braiding.
Not too shabby for my first time on ultra thin hair.

Daddy is usually home by 430ish.
Dinner is still at 501p
Daddy is in charge of bath and bed, since I am gone most evenings.
A for mommy and daddy!

In the evenings I am off to worship team practice or small group, other nights I coach the older gymnasts and some nights it is home sweet home with my family.
Oh my sweet Sass.
She wanted to see the ornaments on the BACK of the tree.
So naturally, you would lean all the way over the couch and...
FALL.
I seriously thought it was broken, again.
Thankfully just a sprain and all healed up in a few days.

I am finally finding a balance between church, work and family and it feels good.
A++ for that effort.

Completed her green book for gymnastics!

I guess overall I get a B+ as a mom. Not too shabby.

Other page 3 news
* I finally got to resign from my RD job. HALLELUJAH! They were many reasons behind the decision, but I am so happy to be done. My company is an amazing company to work for, but my heart just wasn't in it.

* I LOVE my new job coaching gymnastics. To some this may seem like a step down, but to me it is a dream come true. I have said for years I would love to coach cheerleading or gymnastics full time. And while I am not exactly doing it full time, I still love it. Going to a job that isn't a job, well it's bliss. Plus my kids get to come with me and I spend 6+ hours in the gym a week getting better and better each week. My hope is Lo will be able to compete in a years time.

MW trying to bridge up. so cute.

*We did a major toy purge in prep for Christmas...sure doesn't look like much is missing, but trust me we got rid of a lot.

 *Things like this seriously keep me awake at night. Lo's room is just one constant re-do.
First we have the toddler bed for 6 months, then we move on to the big twin, now I am adding in Tiffany blue and sunshine yellow and fading out the black. Anyway, I have HATED her bed against the wall, it needed to be out of safety at first, but now not so much. One day I was just so fed up I yanked her bed around and then I slept like a baby. The end.

Well that about sums up our days and lives don't you feel better know all this?! I know I do. :)

Christmas Program {Jingle Jam 2013}

Man so much to catch up on--all of which just happened last week!

Lo had her Christmas Program. Most of these photos are from dress rehearsal because on the actual night she sort of got inadvertently shoved in the back; I tried to teach her my "box it out" move that I learned on my C-team Jr. High basketball team. However, she choose to embrace her spot. And she did fantastic.

I would like to upload the video, but that is Chad's jurisdiction and well...

Rehearsal night. She got her light up hat and tambourine!

They opened the show by parading in. She was nervous, yet composed. After the 3rd go around she nailed it.
Doing their thing. We had her practice as much as we could remember. She really surprised me this year with remembering and being confident on stage. Of course we are almost 5, so she is a big girl now. ;)

Here are photos of her from the performance night.
None from stage turned out and I gave up and decided to just soak her in and watch since she was in the back.

But she got her hair cut in an adorable A-line bob the day before and she let me curl it all up. LOVE!!

This one is my FAVORITE. Love them.

I am sassy and I know it.

 This is our set at church. They go all out. They know how to work a piece of Styrofoam.

Other happenings...aka Christmas Traditions.
Christmas Crafts.
The kids made a snowman for their doors. Sort of makes you feel like you are living in a dorm the way they dress up their doors, but hey, your only 2 and 4 once.

Finished products.

Here Ms. Creative is decorating her castle with Christmas lights. Her creativity always makes me smile because I was just like her as a kid, at least in my mind. I am still dreaming up stuff. She definitely takes after me in this. We are simple, but we see the beauty in everything and that includes people.
Confession.
I went to Hunger Games: Catching Fire a few Fridays ago {Nov 30}. AMAZING.
I never read the books because at first I thought what a terrible {and stupid} concept. How can people read about kids killing each other? Psychos.
Then my hubby read them. Then we watched Hunger Games dvd. I liked it and saw that it was more than just kids killing each other, it was way deeper than that. But I still wasn't going to read the books {ain't nobody got time for that ;) }.
Then I fell in love with Jennifer Lawrence.
After we got home from the movie I cracked opened Catching Fire. Who needs to read book 1. HA! I skimmed it. On Friday the 6th I read ALL of Catching Fire and on Saturday I read ALL of Mockingjay. Little got done around here. That's why I don't read. Once I start I can't do anything else.

This is Lo and I snuggled up reading. She with her iPad stories and me with Mockingjay. Best.cold.snowy.day.ever.

Lo enjoying the snow/ice. That is pretty much the extent of it. Yay. {not} Hopefully we will get more later?!?!!?
