The last snow I remember aside from the measly barely snow we got last February; was right before MW was born. As in RIGHT before. You may remember I tried to use it to induce labor... That was THE.COLDEST. winter on record, or should have been. School was being cancelled right and left not due to snow, but the negative 15* wind chills. No lie.
So when Lo asks about snow I just tell her "nope, we won't most likely get any because we live in the desert, where we get zero moisture 12 months out of the year. HA!
But then a miracle happened. A few days before Christmas we got a little snow, nothing great, but it was SNOW.
So of course we had to go play in it before we did anything like eat breakfast or brush our teeth!
So here is our first snow, and really Micah's. Last year he just didn't get it. He still didn't really understand why we were out there freezing our derrieres off. And it was bitter. We lasted 15/20 minutes. Then it was gone by end of naptime. Boo.
But what's this? Another snow coming our way?! It is a miracle. Of course it struck on NYE. The kids were to go to my parents for the night so we could party it up. Right.
But due to the snow we decided to stay home and play as a family, when it does snow Chad is rarely home to enjoy it with the kids...We had a BLAST!
When they got up! SNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWW! My prayers were answered! Leighton prays for snow, often.
Mom? I 'edy...got my oots on.
Oh, MW, do you think you want some pants on sweetie?
Again, who needs breakfast when there is snow to eat and play in. And this time it was actually nice out and not bitterly cold!
Having fun. Round 1.
Snowman building...
Exploring our "woods"
Once we finally wrangled them inside, I promised after nap we could go out again.
It rained.
Snow gone.
Tears ensue post nap.
Lucky for us, and suprising our great forecasters, it snowed overnight and all morning!
MORE SNOW.
Round 2
We got some great use out of our new sleds. Thanks Grandma Rachel!
Leighton found this "great" hill behind the woods to sled down. It was so tiny, but she loved it.
Then daddy would pull us really fast in the yard, me included! It was.the.best. I haven't had that much fun in the snow in forever. Thanks daddy!
More exploring.
And what snow play would be complete without warming your hands by the fire.
I am finding myself more in love with the cold and the snow. And I really enjoyed our perfect family day playing in it. Even if this is the carnage left behind. HA!
I am hoping since we got a few earlier snows, we may have a few more?!?!
Oh, my, what fun! Our daughter lives in Dodge City and they've had lots of snow too. Her little 4 year old would rather play in it than eat when he was hungry. Wishing you and your sweet family a most blessed new years.
