Oh Kansas.
You and your crazy weather patterns. We can have all the seasons in one afternoon easily. For instance Easter. For some reason I had no idea it was going to possibly snow. Probably because you know it was MARCH! And because we had seen barely a flake all---what season does it snow again? Oh right! WINTER. Not a nary flake. Plus the meteorologist have lost my complete faith in them to even get in the ballpark or predicting any kind of weather.
So imagine my surprise when we woke up Easter morn to THIS!
Crazy! We had big egg hunt plans too---which just got moved indoors. But now I am getting ahead of myself.
First we had to dye some eggs. MW was less than impressed. Lo taking her time to make each one special and pretty. That took place Thursday.
The egg he made at Mom's Day out.
Then of course our annual Good Friday Easter bunny photo.
Saturday morning the gymnastic team Lo is on hosts an Easter Bunny breakfast. We have gone for 5 years and this was the first year we had to help work it. We had fun and of course the kids got to eat tons of pancakes and sausage.
After we left the breakfast we headed to a local trampoline park to celebrate Easter with my side of the fam. We LOVE trampoline parks and this one is my favorite. Meg and I pulled just one or seven muscles pretending we were 15 again...oh well YOLO right? We had a blast.
There are videos out there of some of my mad moves...maybe once my youtube channel gets going for videos I will post it. I will say I still {mostly} have it from back in the day. Once a gymnast always a gymnast.
Notice how Saturday is beautiful and warm, and spring-y.
Easter egg hunt with cousins.
This was the best we could get of all of them {minus the babe}. Sigh. Good thing they are cute. HA!
The hunt is on...
We have Saturday night church {insert praise hands here!!!}
As a side bar being the traditional good Southern Baptist girl I was raised to be it took me a LOOONG time to be ok with Saturday night church... I mean what kind of heathen doesn't go to church on Sunday, what is wrong with you. HA!
Now, it is glorious. Sunday {well, minus me having to go to work} has become a day of rest. We don't have to get up and rush around, even with work it is a peaceful day. I love it.
SO, sorry for the bunny trail {see what I did there...}
We took our Easter photos Saturday night before church. Chad is on staff at our church so for two years now he has been MIA for photos and of course there is no documentation on how great I looked. ;)
Here are my babies...Oh MW...I use to think this was a phase, but now I am pretty confident this is in fact his personality. Lord help to get one decent photo, he just doesn't get it. HA!
Look Misa I found an Easter dress for Lo stuffed in her closet!
Also because our church is pretty causal {another thing I have learned to overcome from my SB youth ways-- the dress code.} I don't buy fancy Easter dresses for Lo. She won't wear them again most likely, so if we don't have a hand me down we make due. I didn't even think I had one until about an hour before church...way to go mom!
Sadly the best one of MW because the rest....
Lord help me... HA!
Then comes Sunday!
Lo woke up first and instead of making her wait for her brother we decided to let her get her basket. Daddy had to be at church early and would miss it all waiting on MW. {although he woke up moments before daddy left!}
Lo got an Ivy and Bean book. She is such a reader! She has gone through most of the Junie B series and a HS girl I work with suggested Ivy and Bean--so naturally I passed that info onto the EB {Easter bunny}. They both also received yo-yos, cotton candy, bath crayons, bubble Star Wars light sabers and applesauce packets {Their FAVS!! and special treat around here}.
MW got Ant-man. And while he is not reading I love reading super hero books to him. This boy can tell you anything you want to know about any super hero--it is astounding really. Ant man became a favorite because we had ants in the bathroom and I joked that maybe one of them was Ant man and he has been hooked ever since. MW is very gift oriented. He had a HUGE list of things he just needed for Easter. I reminded him this was not Christmas and Easter we just do a small token gift. At Christmas he was disappointed on how some of his gifts went down at first...so the EB was very worried...but ANT MAN was a HIT!!! whew.
Since the high was 45* we had to get out right away and play in the 3 inches of snow. I still couldn't believe this was Easter in March with snow. Mind blown. MW lasted about 20 minutes before he "needed" hot cocoa. Lo was out for at least a good hour.
She built a "melting" snow man. Bless her, she doesn't know how to roll snow balls yet.
Oh look I did get an Easter photo. HA! This was the extent of my snow journey. The nice thing about spring snows is that it is warm out and you don't have to bundle up as much, just keep from getting soaked. Makes playing outside much more fun for this mommy.
Then we packed it in for an indoor Easter egg hunt at a friend's house. That was so much fun and something we don't usually do, but so thankful for these friends and the memories our kids are making together. Made for a really fun Easter.
Of course by the time we got home the neighbors were home from church and had built this!! Our neighbor always puts us all to shame. HA! The girls each made baby bunnies. Again it's Easter--How crazy is this?? An Easter to remember for sure.
Once daddy got home we headed to grandma Rachel's for Easter dinner and more Easter fun.
Heading downstairs for the egg hunt.
LOOK! I found the big one!
Again with the super heros! He does his own Superman vs. Batman showdowns.
Oh my sweet girl.
I hope you all had a happy Easter. Celebrating our Savior's death and victory over death! In that we may all have eternal life. The Easter snow reminded me of the verse in Isaiah 1:18
Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow..." And HE did on that cross. He fulfilled that prophecy. And for that I am thankful.
