Sunday Song {Christmas Edition}

So here I sit 1 week later with my grand idea of "Sunday Song" and now Sunday has come and gone.

In my defense this past week was hetic. Sass had adenoid surgery Tuesday morning, I worked Wed, Thanksgiving on Thurs and more work {as in my RD job} on Friday, followed by date night!! {CATCHING FIRE!!! In the balcony--it's a Warren thing} and a migraine to end all migraines on Sunday. There was a moment in there where I contemplated going to the ER for a shot. That means I can't manage any.more. I am a huge faker with my migraines, but Sunday I was begging for Jesus return or healing. Anything really. Of course I sucked it up anyway. It does always make me think of my sister though, she really struggles with migraines on a more regular basis and honestly, I don't know how she survives.

So now that you are caught up on my excuses and sob stories here is this week's Sunday Song. Because in the moments of trial I especially need these words to focus on.

It is the season of Christmas. Christmas is taking on deeper and greater meaning for me in this season of life. As a child it was all about gifts and Santa; which honestly isn't the end of the world. I was a kid. Christmas was about magic. As I grew older I learned more about WHY we celebrated. Jesus' birthday. But now, and all the credit goes to my church and pastor, the WHY has become much deeper. This isn't just about a birthday, it's about the fulfillment of a promise. A promise to SAVE us. This was God's plan finally set in motion. Generations waited and waited. Some losing hope that maybe God "forgot."
Becoming a mom also opened my eyes to a teeny tiny glimpse of what Mary may have felt carrying, birthing and raising our Savior. What an awesome responsibility. I barely feel worthy enough to raise my own babies let alone raise the Savior to the World.

Jesus is the HOPE of our world. Bad things happen all around us, but we can rest assured in our HOPE in Jesus. Redemption began that night. He is our kinsman redeemer! Just picture the angels leaning over heaven waiting for that first cry. The JOY! Just thinking about Christ's birth gives me goosebumps.

I posted 2 songs this week, because I am loving all these Christmas songs. I love how our Christian artists are digging deeper than the generic songs and really giving us a picture of what that night looked like and meant.

Enjoy!

"When Hope Came Down" Kari Jobe

So this is how it was
A silent night like any other,
When heaven sent the one,
The one we will call our savior,
And redemption begins,
In a stable in Bethlehem,

[Chorus:]
All of the angels lifted up their voices,
And filled the night with Hallelujah's,
God is with us now,
Everyone come and join the heavenly chorus,
Our savior King is here before us,
All to hear the sound
The song creation sang,
When Hope Came Down,

So This was truly God,
Wrapped in a tattered blanket,
Love was finally here,
Sleeping while the world awakened,
And redemption begins,
With a baby in Bethlehem,

[Chorus:]
All of the angels lifted up their voices,
And filled the night with Hallelujah's,
God is with us now,
Everyone come and join the heavenly chorus,
Our Savior King is here before us,
All to hear the sound
The song creation sang
When Hope Came Down,

So let us sing Redemption Song,
Let us worship Christ the Holy one,
We were lost, but we were found,
When Hope Came Down,
When Hope Came Down.

[Chorus:]
All of the angels lifted up their voices,
And filled the night with Hallelujah's,
God is with us now,
Everyone come and join the heavenly chorus,
Our Savior King is here before us,
All to hear the sound
The song creation sang
When Hope Came Down,

When Hope Came Down,
Oooo
When Hope Came,
When Hope Came Down.

He Has Come For Us (God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen)

Meredith Andrews

God rest ye merry gentlemen

Let nothing you dismay

Remember Christ, our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O, tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O, tidings of comfort and joy

He has come for us

This Jesus
He's the hope for all
Mankind
He has come for us
The Messiah
Born to give us life
From God, our heavenly Father
A blessed angel came
And unto certain shepherds
Brought tidings of the same
How that Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by name
O, tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O, tidings of comfort and joy

He has come for us

This Jesus
He's the hope for all
Mankind
He has come for us
The Messiah
Born to give us life

All the angels sing "Hallelujah!

"Jesus Christ is born!"
All the children sing "Hallelujah!
"He is Christ the Lord!"

He has come for us

This Jesus
He's the hope for all
Mankind
He has come for us
The Messiah
Born to give us life
He is born to giv us life

All the angels sing "Hallelujah!

Jesus Christ is born!"
All the children sing "Hallelujah!
"He is Christ the Lord!"
