Five{ish} Minute Friday + Fun Friday

It's Friday!
Today was my first day back at the gym in 6 days! And it felt so good. I feel totally energized right now and I have only had 1 cup of coffee. Hmmm. I hurt my shoulder last weekend just randomly. I honestly have no earthly explanation for it and it hurt bad. :( I don't recall, lifting, twisting, pulling, or falling to cause it. So I took it as a sign for a much needed break. Plus, getting up at 530a was starting to get old. Actually, I didn't mind it so much, it is more that MW doesn't take a morning nap hardly anymore and he exhausts me. By 11a I am toast, and just generally not a happy mommy (and we still have 2 hours 'til nap time!)

Soooo I decided to go ahead and sign the kids up for kidzone at the Y. 1. To get a little break from them and let them get out of the house to burn off some of their toddler stink. 2. Mommy is far less tired by going to the Y at 830a.

 However, getting the kids there and back out was nearly a 15 minute cardio session all in itself. I thought I was going to puke. I am starting to get into that HIIT training and tabata workouts, so I guess that means I am doing right. It isn't easy, but it yields good great results, in a short amount of time. Maybe when I get my routine down pat, I will share more of what I am doing. I just love how working out makes you feel.

Also today is Friday Fun Day! I am really trying to have more activities for my kids to do to help break up the day, plus it gives us all something to look forward too. Today's activity was making crayons.

Leighton loved this project. She kept telling me this was so fun! Micah liked to break the crayons. HA!

Once we got the paper off and in the tins we baked them in the oven at 170*F for about 25minutes. Then I let them cool a bit, finishing up the cooling process in the freezer. 20 minutes later they were done and popped right out. My good muffin tin totally fine as the pinnee promised! :)

Sister, why are you so weird?

Finished product

Cool Mom!

I love to color.

So far it has been a fun Friday. The kids are worn out from the kidzone (score!), both are currently napping, my sister Meg is here laughing at her own jokes in the background and Micah has had a phenomenal potty training week. I am not counting my chickens yet, but I am celebrating this week and all his success!

Lo: Mommy I am really sleepy.
M: You are? Why? {this was at 10a)
Lo: I don't know, I think these crayons are getting to my eyes and making me sleepy.
M: Bummer. Guess you will be ready for nap then.
Lo: No. I be fine.

"Summer" Nights

I guess technically it is still summer...so here is how we have spent those cooler evenings.

Real boys rock pink...

Cheering for a MS football game.

 Learning to ride a bike sans training wheels like her BFF did...so far she has yet to master it.

Ready
 GOING...

 DOWN

BFF!

One day it rained! Hallelujah!  She lasted 45 seconds out there after begging to go play in it. Really?!

Stunting at the MS football game. Future cheerleader for sure. She was watching the 200 MS cheerleaders stunt. I mean did every girl in MS try out AND make it?! Ok it probably more like 20 girls, but still...anyway Lo thought it was uber cool! We may have to go again tonight.

And those are our evenings. Loving the cool{er} weather and hangin' out with friends.

Imagination {My First Cartoon}

We recently were blessed with and iPad. Lo loves playing "bedio" games and creating cartoons on Toontastic. I nearly died when Chad showed me one of her cartoons. Wow. Look out Meg you have some competition. Just sayin'.  Enjoy. And please note she ends all her cartoon stories with "amen." Why? I have no idea. Also, in case you can't tell she {and daddy} each drew their character. :)

Just Another Day

As promised {to myself} another day in the life of us post. It is amazing how it feels like so much has changed but it really hasn't...Micah is far more active now and wearing me down faster.
538a--my morning alarm clock goes off. Boo! Hit snooze and then have an internal dialogue with myself about getting up out of bed and going to the gym. You would think after nearly 3 months of this it would be easier. Nope. And inner voice Michele says really not so kind things to me. Alas 3 minutes later I am up.

545a-Leave for the gym.

710a-Home. Usually the kids are up by now. Make breakfast, drink coffee, watch "monkey show" or "Cat in Hat" good times.What is going on in the World? No idea...I don't even know what news is anymore. HA!

745a-Daddy leave for work. Where every day Lo asks "daddy didn't give me high fives?" "That is because he hasn't LEFT yet...he ALWAYS tells you goodbye; doesn't he?" "well, I guess so."

750a-Breakfast is over. Try to wrangle Mogli {aka Micah} and get him dressed, teeth brushed etc. I am pretty much dying for a shower, but it is not in the cards. Lo always emerges from her room completely clothed, headband in and ready to tackle the day. Good girl!

8-11a- At this point it is play time for the kids or fight time as I like to refer to it. Seriously, just GET ALONG ALREADY! {side bar: I am reading this book called "How to make your kids mind, without losing yours!" The bits and pieces I have read said let 'em fight it out. As long as they aren't physically killing each other or damaging your stuff, let them figure it out themselves. Awesome. Will do! So far it works."}

{9a-10a}-- MW "power nap??." This depends on when MW got up (sometimes he is up when I leave for the gym at 545a, just babbling away in his crib--no one gets him until 7a, and he seems cool with that) therefore he may or may not need a "power nap."  He is ONLY  allowed to sleep for 1 hour at best. He has to be up by 10a period. {Mommy needs afternoon nap to HAPPEN with BOTH kids or mommy will not be a happy camper and we all know mommy needs.to.be.a.happy.camper--let's just say I had a bad experience one day last week and I do NOT want a repeat of that.}

I also attempt to work on learning activities with Lo during this time. Lots of artsy stuff happens during the morning window.

This is also when I usually get my shower and do "chores" around the house, like check email, FB, blogs, and the occasional load of laundry is started too. :)

they love SID the Science Kid...here they are doing their journals! HA!

1115a-Lunch time. Now I have TWO helpers trying to make lunch. Thank you Lo for teaching your brother to climb onto the counter.

1145a-1245a-More playing while mommy cleans up the kitchen, un/loads the dishwasher, followed by more "chores" etc.

1p-The angels sing because it is NAP TIME! Sometimes I swear I hear the Hallelujah chorus playing in the background. I take each kid potty, read them 1 book apiece, and then it is "lights out." Leighton though has decided naps are for losers, so she usually plays quietly for 2 hours. This has been going on for nearly 2-3weeks. Of course this week naps are "cool" again. Whatever, as long as I get a break I am happy.

During this time I scrapbook, blog, edit photos, take a nap or anything that re-energizes me.

330/4p--Nap time is over. Snacks are passed out. Jake and the Neverland Pirates blaring on the TV.

430p-Daddy is home! Now that it isn't so blazing hot we can usually be found outside playing with the neighbor kids.
doing a ice break--idea courtesy of my sister.

445p-Start/Finish Dinner.

5-530p-Sit down to eat my delicious crock pot meal of some sort.

530/6p-Clean up dinner/kitchen AGAIN! Baths {daddy's favorite job. :) } every other night or play.

630p-Some nights we go out and play with the neighbors, other nights we take walks down to the stadium to practice our gymnastics :), some nights we stay in eat our chocolate graham crackers and drink stir it up and watch more Jake and the Neverland Pirates. Then it is more play time until bed.

730p- MW is headin' to bed. If Lo did NOT nap she will be heading to be shortly. IF she did nap then she can stay up until 8pish. {Mommy puts MW to bed, Daddy puts Lo to bed. Win-win :)}

830p-10p--finally able to punch out of "work" and relax again. Chad and I love us some Big Brother, so we usually watch that and then I head to bed, after checking my email, blogs and fb, oh and who can forget pinterest. Don't want to miss something! HA!

And that folks is just another day in my life. As usual as soon as I get this all written down things will be changing...especially now that school is back in session and daddy isn't around to help break up the monotony for me. And with MW not really needing a morning nap by 12 I am worn out trying to entertain them both {really just MW, man the old saying that momma's of boys "work from SON UP to SON DOWN" is so very true...wow he is exhausting} and keep MW on his potty training streak.

We are in desperate need of park days, play dates, story times etc. I think I am in such desperate need I am going to switch my gym time to 830a so they can go "socialize" with other kids in the kid zone. That is worth and extra $20/mo to the Y right there...right?!

I would love to hear from some of you on what you do to keep you kids going all day?!

Well until next time...

My Superheros!

My superheros!

comic book effect on photos courtesy of THIS tutorial...I had to tweak her instructions a bit to get it to work since I have photoshop elements as opposed to just plain photoshop, but I liked how they turned out and you can bet they will be in a scrapbook page soon! Comic book fonts found here.

But even superheros need their mommy to tie on their capes.

Scaling tall buildings...

and blasting away the villains!

I can't believe these two are already scheming together. AH! I want MW to have a superhero birthday party, so this new found skill should come in handy. However, now I think a certain little girl thinks she needs one too! We shall see it is still 5-6m out!

Potty Training Diaries {MW Style}

You may remember once upon a time I journaled about Leighton's potty training experience cataloged under "Potty Training Diaries"  While that is an experience I didn't want to have to repeat, here we are 2 years to date repeating it. HA! I guess Micah deserves to be potty trained too. ;)

I am a believer in early potty training and I write about it because I think so many moms get "told" that it can't be done or made to feel like you are crazy. {Especially when it comes to our boys, so many are told boys just are too "slow" to get it before 3 or 4--NOT TRUE!!!}

Is it easy to do. No, it isn't. There is no sugar coating it. But if you are willing to do it then try it. There is no failure in trying and guess what if it works then hip hooray for you, if it doesn't or you want to give up, that is ok too. But if you want results, and this goes for anything in life, then you have to WORK for it and you have to give it your all. So below is just some "boring" journal entries I wrote regarding this in progress process. We are no where near done...so more to come. I know I like to feel like I am not alone, so I just laid it all out there.

{July 1st 2012:}
Today we embarked on the task I love to hate--potty training. At around 15m I got out your potty chair and started talking about where we go potty. You took right to it. However today is the day we started the physical act. I wasn't planning on it starting today, I was actually going to wait until the 5th, when I could give you my undivided attention and really delve in. But today was a good starter day. I am going about it thus far completely differently than with your sister, mostly because I figured out what worked well and what really hindered the process. :) {aka mommy's attitude/patience level for said potty training} I encouraged you to sit on the potty a lot by bribing you with chocolate chips. I think bribes are great. With Lo I was so against, but it works, it works well. So I say bring on the chocolate!

You stayed dry for hours. I just kept hoping you would pee so I could praise or re-direct you, but you just didn't...saved it for naps and the 1 hour we were at church. :( Then we headed to Target (where you stayed dry the entire time we were out!) and got all the gear, underpants, covers, pull-ups (something else I was against with Lo), juice and of course the beloved MMs. After we put you in cotton underpants you had one accident because I was side tracked making dinner. Blast you dinner!

Overall, I am happy with how today went. No real success or failure, but you really understood me and what we were trying to do. I like to start slow. With early potty training I see this as a marathon and not a sprint. I can't wait to start loading you up on juice and really start!

{Day 7 July 7th 2012:}
By the end of today I decided to quit, throw in the towel, admit defeat, embrace my failure, and eat humble pie.
Now to insert my "excuses." He wasn't even 18m when I started. Lo was 18.5m---should that matter?! No. He had a bladder like a tanker and watching him all day was boring, I felt like I couldn't give him my undivided attention and thirdly I just plain wasn't in the mood to do it. That's the thing about potty training at any age, momma has to be in the mood to deal with it. Momma has to have her patient hat on and fueled up, diapers can be easier in the interim...but man when they are potty trained the freedom that gives!

{Day 1 Take Two: August 12th 2012}:
Again I had no plans of starting potty training today. I knew I needed to buck up and start up again, but I just didn't want to. However, today I noticed you were staying dry for hours since you got up, that's when I decided "diapers boo, underpants whoo!" {catch phrase curiosity of B in Real Life}. I took your dry diaper off, put you in your training underpants (the thick cotton underwear) and said "we go pee pee in the potty. If you wet them I guess you will figure it out sooner or later." Of course he wet them a bit later. "Oh well, there is next time."

My mindset at this point was you can pretty much potty train yourself, you will get tired of peeing your undies and figure out that you need to A. hold it and B. take it to the potty. We went to daddy's softball game at church---and kept your cotton underpants dry. I wasn't looking back now. This attitude was mainly for me and less for him, with Leighton I got so internally worked up every time she peed on the floor, it nearly drove me mad. By letting go of that it kept me calm and able to keep moving forward.

{Week One}: So this is whole potty train yourself thing is working. HA! You decided by day 3 that you didn't like being wet, but you hadn't clicked on getting to the potty in time. You would pee and then run to the bathroom! Progress the connection is formed. Every time you had an accident I took you to the potty and sat you down and explained what to do. Nonchalantly said "next time buddy you will make it." Then off you went.
Day 4 I got you to go #2 in the potty! That is when you starting saying "pooooop" followed by this little grunt. That has now become your "potty" word no matter if it is #1 or #2. However the whole #2 incident seemed to really scare you. You did NOT like seeing that.
Day 5 Today we had a play date and you did the same thing told me about your need to go big, but you refused to sit on her little potty chair. I mean freak out! I wasn't going to push it at someone else's house, plus I don't want to clogged up the pipes and freak you out over it...you will get it. No biggie.

We ended the week with no actually successes. HA! But I just didn't care. I could see it clicking, so I pushed on. Again with early potty training especially, this is a marathon not a sprint. I just kept telling myself:
1. This is the same age as Lo was when she learned. So you can too. Plus, you are more verbal than she was, so that has to count for something.
2. I am not really trying that hard with you. I am just sort of letting you lead the way. {With MW's personality that is ALWAYS the best recourse...he does NOT like to be told what to do at all, it has to be his idea, so I merely made it seem like it was his idea. :)}
3. I have nothing "better" to do, per-say. I am at home all day so I can work with him on it. Plus I am saving a TON in diaper money.

{Week Two}: This week is when it got real and when I wanted to throw the towel in again. He actually was having successes this week. {YAY! Micah Bear. Pee pee in the potty!} Probably due to the fact that I was finally working with him on it. HA! One day he was all over it, going to the potty, telling me, staying dry. Yay! He is going to do this. The next day it was as if we had never even started potty training. You would just stand there and start peeing. GRRRRR! There were so many moments that I just wanted to say forget it. But ultimately reason would win out. I have to keep my eyes on the prize.

Most of you are thinking she is so nuts, just wait until he is 2 or 3 and this would be SO much easier. I don't know that to be true. With MW's personality it would probably be more of a battle because he would be asserting his will more, plus I think of how much money I am wasting on diapers for the next 1.5-2 years and that bugs me, and finally I know plenty of parents who waited or are still waiting and it didn't/isn't getting easier...bottom line is, I will never know which way would have been "easier" but at least I know he will be golden by that age in the potty training department and I won't have to deal with that amongst other "terrible 3" tendencies. HA!

{Day 14 Aug 25 2012}: So proud of my boy. We just went shopping all morning (ie 3 hours) and he kept his pull-up dry the entire time except the last 10 minutes on the car ride home. He said "potty" I begged him to hold it tight, but he obviously couldn't make it. Not too bad. He even went potty in one of the stores we were in!!! Right after telling me he had to go! Woot Woot! He is getting it and doing really well this past week. He is down to just a few accidents per day. Of course he seems to pee a lot during nap, but that will come. Night time and day time are two different things in my book, especially at this age. Shoot Lo is just now 2 years post potty training, finally, almost, night time trained.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below is a link for some tips on potty training I found...probably via pinterest. I agree with every thing she wrote, EXCEPT the reward thing. She thinks verbal encouragement is enough. Depending on your kid maybe it is. But with Lo I tried everything and in the end chocolate chips or MMS were the ticket. MW doesn't seem to care too much either way right now...but don't fear if you have to "bribe" them to go, they won't be asking for MMS every time the go forever...just like anything, you will wean them off that.
Potty Training Stress Free
I have a post coming next or soon about the differences I noticed between boy vs. girl potty training, personality types and what worked for MW vs Lo. I'll just say this...little boys learn early how funny it is to hose you. HA!
First Hair Cut {MW}
Micah got his first "official" haircut on July 12th. I have kept it trimmed in back and around his face to avoid that awful mullet look, but the top was getting thick and out of control. I have no idea how to cut a little, rambunctious, boy's hair.  But I did my best. And you can always get him to settle down for 2 minutes with a sucker.
{Before}
{During}
{After}
Ah that red hair! I just can't get over it...I am now finally embracing it and find myself loving his auburn locks, but his being a red head just came out of left field. I just never imagined I would have a ginger headed kid. HA! Now that I do I notice them all over the place.
Not a radical difference noted in the pics, mostly b/c I thinned it out on top, but everyone who saw him after I cut it commented on how nice his hair looked...so a win for mommy.
Oh Back to School...
Back to school time is here! Ah, my favorite time of year. New notebooks, fresh crayons and pens, and of course starting a new routine. Love it. As is customary we take our annual back to school pic--but of course this particular morning both kids thought sleeping in was a good idea. Do they ever sleep past 730a in their lives? Nope. But today yes. So Chad took his pic with the fur babies.
{2012}
Then the clowns got up and wanted to see their neighbor friends off and loading the school bus. Here they are yelling out the window "HAVE A GREAT FIRST DAY!"
Daddy's HOME!
Chad made sure to wear a green shirt this year, because his feelings are still hurt about everyone commenting on his blue/purple shirts he wore 3 years in a row! HA! {It is just amazing to see how the kids have grown in 4 years!! In 2 short years I will be sending my Lo Lo girl off to Kindergarten. :( }
And I had to throw this in there. My sister Meg hangs out with us a lot, so this past Monday was her first day at her new college. I thought it was hilarious to do one of those kiddie memory pages for her!
{I totally made up the answers---pretty sure I got some of them right?!?! :) }
Happy Back to School Month!!
20 August 2012
Yeah I can't believe I did this...
So last week my friend who is 1 year younger than me with 2 kids the same age as mine {B/c that is important} :)} HA! Was on her family vacay and did a running backhandspring on the beach. So I couldn't let her "show" me up. HA! And I wondered if I could still do it with out landing in the ER...
Yeah, I just did that. I just kept remembering how back in my glory days I could go non-stop...yeah, that ain't happenin', maybe if I was on an actual gymnastic floor?!? Hmmm....
Now I will be surprised if I get up and make my 530a workout tomorrow?!?
Kids Say The Darndest Things...
M: We are going to have laZAGna for dinner tonight.
Lo: no mommy, it's laSAGna.
M: Oh OK laZAGna. ;)
Lo: mommy say it slowly with me la-sag-na.
M: la-sag-na.
Lo: good job mommy!
~~~~~~~~~

M: Ok peeps it is time to lock and load.
{time to leave in mommy crazy talk}
MW: la lo

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Leighton hurt her hand doing who knows what...
Lo: ::with head bowed and eyes squeezed shut::
Dear God please heal up my hand. Amen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

We are leaving for Saturday night church and I have on a "stylish" jacket because it is sub par in the sanctuary. Lo insists on wearing a jacket too.
Daddy: Lo why do you have a jacket on?
Lo: Because I want to look stylish. Yeah, I look stylish.
{BAHAHA where does she come up with this stuff...I never once said I looked stylish or had on a stylish jacket. Oh sweet little fashionista.}

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's breakfast time.
Daddy: What do you want for breakfast Lo?
Lo: cereal.
::Daddy proceeds to get the cereal out...::
Lo: No NO! I want toast now. I change my mind. It ok.
::Daddy realizing girls always can change their minds, even at 3::
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

M: I love you Micah Bear
MW: I wub ju
One of the first "I love yous" melts your heart every.single.time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mommy singing a lively rendition of the veggie tale theme song.
Lo: Mommy what was that?
M: I was trying to sing to you.
Lo: oh.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

M: Gymnastics starts again soon. Did you miss it?
Lo: Yes, SO much. I love gymnastics (and cucumbers). Why does things have to go away sometims?
M: ::um, is this suppose to be a great theological question that I should try and answer?! crickets crickets what to say...quick::
I don't know it's frustrating isn't? ::whew. Good answer. {not} good thing she is 3.::
Lo: Yes, it's fustating.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We finally are getting cooler days and mornings. Praise Jesus!!!!
Lo: Mommy it's not too hot. Let's go to the park!
MW: ARK ARK
M: I said we would go later. Daddy is coming home for lunch soon.
Lo: Oh man! Well let's eat lunch after I go to the silverleaves. {she means facilities--our pc word for bathroom.} HA!
MW: ARK ARK!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was a rainy day {again PRAISE JESUS we are in a desperate Sarhara kind of desert drought here}
Lo: Maybe after everything dries up after nap we can go to the P-L-O-C-K-D-E. {Park}
My spelling lessons really paying off. HA!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Playing with her dolls. Next thing I hear is her "cell phone" conversation with someone.
Lo: sorry we are going to be late for the party. We ran out of gas. Be there soon. Bye.
M: what?! You ran out of gas?!
Lo: Well we didn't. The horsey did.
M: Um, ok. Well do you have far to walk?
Lo: No the party is just right there. {two steps down the hall}
Can I just say, never once have we ever ran out of gas, come close, but never ran out. I don't even begin to pretend to know where this "storyline" comes from. I find myself constantly asking "where did she come up with this stuff?!"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

This one makes my heart happy because she recognized her bad attitude and corrected it on her OWN!
Leighton was obsessing about her socks and how they weren't on "right" I calmly explained that what she wanted to happen wasn't going to work. She ran off pouting, crying and yelling.
A bit later she returns.
Lo: Mommy, I am sorry for yelling at you and having a bad attitude.
M: Oh thank you baby for saying sorry. I am proud of you for recognizing that.

MW 19 Months {Watch Me Grow}

Don't you love that I had my kids just one day apart and you get two Watch Me Grow episodes in two days! Probably as much as I love writing them. HA! I want to remember all this stuff because when I go back I am all "really, they did that? I felt that way?! I barely remember that." Which is great that God wipes our memories like that otherwise we would only do this once in most cases. HA! But it is sort of a chore to do...I digress. On to my baby boy who is growing leaps and bounds.

He is smart and he knows it. He is doing everything he should be and more as far as I can tell. So this month I just want to remember all his quirks.

 Cheesing for the camera. Such a ham.

In no particular order here are the--
Anecdotes/Quirky things you do:
*You are into shoes. And not just any shoes--girl shoes. Mommy's flip flops, sissy's sparkly flip flops, mommy's heels, sissy's girly slippers. Now in his defense he gets this shoe obsession from none other than his father--not the girly part, just the shoe part. Some of you who follow me on pinterest know EXACTLY what I am talkin' about.

One day he will hate me for this picture, but he was so cute in my heels and then I realized that he had sissy's trainer underpants on {because the boy ones were in the dryer} it was a make due effort and he has only been in them this once. Promise. Still funny though and a GREAT blackmail picture. :)

*Still on your paci--I have plenty of time before Kindergarten to wean him don't worry. However, you love for me to rinse it off and give it to you full of water...so weird. Also, you only get paci when you are sleeping. See progress from last month when he got to have it all.the.time. So in the morning or after nap you hand me your paci and place your little hand on the side of your head to sign "sleep" as if to say "only when I sleep momma." However, sometimes the separation is a bit too much and you must suck on each paci, you have 2, just for a quick second more before tossing them on the dresser.

Please note this is a "play" paci.
 He is VERY particular to his 2 pacis he has, so he doesn't use this one for long.

* You love to give people "pound its." {the fist bump thing}

*You love books now and by love I mean you are sitting and listening to them now. Your current favs are "Mommy Loves Me" {we hold hands while we read it--insert melted heart} and a Mickey Mouse Choo Choo book.  I catch you a lot of time after nap just sitting in your bed reading your books. Much like your sissy you have taken to sleeping with them. You also go around saying "read dat/dis book."

*When you have a stinky diaper I tell you to march to your room and get fresh. You start stomping yelling "mar, mar, mar."

*You are still a climbing fool. It is enough to drive me mad. Most days I just watch it happen. There is no stopping you. What can I say you have clearly been raised by wolves monkeys.

*You have started kissing the characters in books, especially the giraffes. Of course mommy still gets snubbed when it comes to kisses. :(

You stayed up SO late {ie 830p--such a night owl HA!} just playing and playing in the sand.
Of course the next morning you were up talking in your crib by 545a when I left for the gym, but whatev you had fun.

*Ok seriously, what is up with Elmo? There has got to be some kind of Jedi mind control he uses on kids to suck them in. Lo is pretty much "over" Elmo. We hardly watch him at all or speak of him. We have a few Elmo things around, but they don't seem like they are played with too much. Alas, you are into Elmo. You sing "Lalala," shout "ELmo" {not melmo like most kids} when you find an Elmo toy or book. You promptly picked out an Elmo movie at the library yesterday to watch. When I put it on you were enraptured. Seriously kid? I don't know there is something fishy here. ;)

Future ::insert famous bball player, b/c mommy doesn't know any here::

*You have a jealous streak. If I love on sissy you have to be loved on. If I try and walk another baby around the kitchen, you need me to hold your hands and walk around the kitchen and so on. Cute?! No.

*Finally, FINALLY FINALLY! You are holding my hand! You are so independent that the thought of holding my hand or anyone's for that matter was like torture. You want to walk places, but then you won't hold a hand...now you do and it is so sweet. I love the way your little hand fits in mine. I love that you grab my hands to "drag" me somewhere to "show" me something.

*A moth to a flame. PB to jelly. Teachers and summertime. And you and water. All things that go hand in hand. If you see a hose, sprinkler, puddle, and/or pool you are in it. Who cares if you are in your jammies ready for bed, the neighbor is watering his lawn, sure go run through it! Oy!

* Finally playing more independently of me and playing more with your sister or just by yourself. HUGE milestone for mommy!
 You heart airplanes.

*Favorite sentence: "Where dadDE go?"
Again having one child who said practically nothing until she was 21-24 months to having one who completely speaks his mind is a mind blowing experience. Not sure yet which I prefer, although I am leaning toward the communicator, at least I know what he wants 85% of the time. You are at the point now you just repeat pretty much everything you hear instantly. This morning Lo was watching PBS kids and that yucky bug lady came on. She yells "BUG OFF BUG LADY!" and the next thing you hear is Micah yelling "BA OV BA BADY" Hilarious! {You probably had to be there}.

You always say "dank do" whenever you are given something. So sweet, and at least you got your sissy saying it again, so props to you MW!

All day you go around saying "where go" and mommy has to remember what you were last playing with to know where IT went and then find it. You do try to help and give context clues, but sometimes it is a struggle to keep track of all you play with in a day!

Sleeping: We are almost down to one nap! Woot woot! I really have a whole post I want to do on that. This has been challenging in so many ways. While I am ready I am not sure I am ready. HA! We are on day 2 of this new nap schedule thing. All I can say is it is going.  Bedtime routine is the same as last month. {7/730pish-7aish} If I put him down later than that he is up at 545a when I leave for the gym. Go figure. I told you sleep begets sleep...just have to find that sweet sleep window.

*I would like to give you props for going to bed; {knock on wood} never have you been fussy or scream or cry when I put you to bed. Once you are in you are in and you play until you fall asleep and when you wake up you play until I come get you. Sissy not so much. She goes in cycles with that. So on those 545a mornings you play and talk, maybe even fall back to sleep for a bit until 715a when I or daddy comes to get you.

Temperament: Happy for the most part. Communicating has been key. You hate being told "no" but who doesn't?!

I love you love bear! Happy 19 months!

Can you say stud muffin?! I know I am bias, but come on.
He has that whole smoldering GQ thing going on.
