Gender Reveal Party

So we've been keeping a little secret.

On Wed, we went for our 20 week ultrasound. However, this time I wanted to do something fun to reveal the gender to our family, especially since this is it for us.

I secretly invited everyone over for dinner. When the arrived they were greeted with this sign:

Then we had everyone break up into teams:

Team PINK (Chad and I were on team Pink)
Team BLUE

Then they each got a cupcake and when they pulled back the wrapper the discovered it was a:

That's right I couldn't have been more wrong! We are having a little BOY! This is beyond shocking to both of us really. We really only ever pictured our family with two girls. I will admit I was a little "bummed" about not getting another girl, but it will be great to have one of each...it should be interesting to say the least!

I would also like to ask for your prayers as I go through this pregnancy. The sonogram showed some "abnormalities" and will be followed up on with a specialist. It is something that can and does occur in a lot of pregnancies, so it could be nothing or it could evolve into something. It is hard to say. As I learn more I will update more, but for now I just ask for prayers for a healthy baby BOY!

  1. WOW!! Congrats! I'm really surprised, too. I would have been on Team Pink. :) Will be praying for a healthy baby boy! When do you see the specialist?

  2. What a fun way to reveal the news! Congrats on your baby BOY! I'll be keeping you all in my prayers throughout the pregnancy...and throughout the rest of your mothering career as you experience what it's like to raise "a whole 'nother beast." :)

  4. Congrats! Boys are amazing...I always thought I wanted a girl at some point, but after having Sutton, I'd be perfectly happy with all boys. I'm sure you won't fully understand til he's here, but WOOHOOO for a boy! :)

  9. Congrats on the baby boy!

We don't actually know each other - but I know your sister Melissa, and stalk your blog occasionally :) (And by the way, your daughter is ADORABLE!)

I grew up in a family of 5 girls and could never imagine being a "boy mom". When we found out we were having a boy, I was shocked - I can totally identify with you - I was feeling a little "bummed" too! It's only been 3 months but now I LOVE being a boy mom and would be totally happy with a family of all boys :) They are so fun! (Even though I completely agree - dressing boys is NOT as fun as dressing girls! Why can't they make cute boy clothes?!?)
